Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) - Elemental Analysis
- 5 July 2022
A.M.L. in Antwerp is looking for an enthusiastic laboratory technician (MLT) for its Elemental Analysis Department (part of the Department of Occupational Medicine, Toxicology and Judicial Analysis (ATG)). The ATG laboratory executes analyses on various materials of human and animal origin (blood, urine, stool…). It detects metals, trace elements, medicines, drugs, and other products.
As a lab assistant in the elemental analysis department, you are responsible for analysing human and animal samples for metals and trace elements. On the one hand, your technical skills will be used to control our sample preparation machines and the ICP-MS analysers, but on the other hand, you will also be able to execute a lot of manual techniques such as analysis of kidney stones with FT-IR and determination of metals and trace elements in red blood cells.
Knowledge of chromatographic techniques, both instrumental and analytical-technical, is an added value but certainly not a requirement. Training will be provided for this.
You are a Medical Laboratory Technician with an interest in toxicology/chemistry. It is self-explanatory that you possess the essential skills of an excellent laboratory technician, such as scrupulousness, accuracy, and flexibility. You can execute analyses independently, quickly, and accurately, with an eye for quality and safety. You communicate fluently with your colleagues and department heads.
